Week 61 - Untitled

Cole Smith has been put on notice - Nanner is totally into the farmer-types.

Anna's favorite new toy is her Fisher Price farm set, complete with cow, pig, sheep, horse, goat, and farmer.  All of which have their own place in the barn which has (yes) doors that moo and neigh, a baa'ing bail of hay, and oh yeah, a clucking chicken perched on the edge of the hayloft.

For the creation of this next piece, Anna said that she was inspired by the farm set and our recent infatuation with Michael Pollan:  Yellow pasture-raised chickens, fed a steady diet of green grass meet their demise at Polyface farm.  And then the cycle continues.

Yep, it's already hanging on the refrigerator.

Week 60 - By Comparison

"No more Nannerchaun outfits for me"

By comparison, last year for St. Patty's Day, we dressed the Nanner in a leprechaun outfit and headed to the bar.  It was also 80 degrees.

Still drinking.  But sticking to milk.

This year we did the more adult thing and stuck to brunch.  Maple glazed, bacon topped donuts brunch.  Oh, and it was 19 degrees and windy out.  Boo.

Week 59 - Snow Angel

Nanner was obviously so excited to go out and play in the snow for the first time.  Now that she's walking it'll be fun to tromp around in the snow, right?

Either mama was joking that Nanner looked like
Ralphie's brother Randy, or Nanner is embarrassed
to live in a house with such a crappy looking garage.

Wrong.  Aimee set Anna down in the snow and she would not move.  It might be suggested that the Nanner is more of a Snow Bird than a Snow Angel, but when she and Aimee migrated south a few weeks ago, she didn't want to touch the sand or water either.

Week 58 - Drinking With Daddy

This photo is to suggest that drinking with daddy isn't
the only thing she likes to do - Nanner is a scholar too.

This post is way overdue.  Or maybe the more correct statement is that daddy has done way too much drinking with the Nanner over the past year.

In reverse order, the following depicts all of the Drinking With Daddy that the Nanner and I have enjoyed together (if you're thinking about calling DCFS, remember that I am very good at Photoshop...get-you-out-of-a-moving-traffic-violation good at photoshop)

And on a side note, the frequency of DWD days had an inverse correlation to the amount of sleep she was getting at night (notice all of the photos where I'm wearing sunglasses).

w58 - John's Place
Celebrating the fact that Nanner slept 11 straight hours the night before.
**parents' note: John's Place has a great kids scene before 6:30.  Definitely a place to avoid before then if you don't have kids.
---

w48 - Rock Bottom Brewery
Gearing up for the VDTA Christmas Party - can't show up to those things sober.
---

w40 - 2112 Front Yard
I repeat, verrry good at Photoshop.  But who wouldn't turn to the bottle if they were forced to wear a monkey suit?  At least she knows it's the good stuff.
---

w34 - Roscoe Village Guinness & Oyster Festival
Speaking of the good stuff.
---

w29 - 2112 couch
Locally grown.
---

w25 - Brian Smith's farm
Daddy's local - food and drink.
---

w22 - 2112 back deck
Summertime in the summer time.
---

w19 - Volo
Because this is where it all started...and because the Nanner cannot survive on beer alone!
** parents' note: Volo does not have a good kids scene...unless you know the guy pouring the wine.
---

w18 - Riverview Tavern
We are at a bar watching NASCAR but no - I do not beat my child.  Nanner had just woken up from a long nap in the Baby Bjorn which caused that unfortunate mark on her face.
** parents' note: Riverview has a back room especially for families - but if you're in early on a Sunday (but who goes to the bar and wants to watch NASCAR anyway?), bar seating is the way to go.
---

w18 - Chateau Duffy
Yep - two DWD's in one weekend.
---

w17 - Will's Northwoods Inn
Home of the famous moose and bear.  Buddy-bear!
---

w16 - The Bad Apple
Bad Apple was actually Nanner's grandma's idea.
** parents' note: The Bad Apple has a side room (and dedicated bathroom!) just for families with kids!  A strategic decision to be sure for a restaurant in Lincoln Square.
---

w11 - Four Moon Tavern
Little known but great hangover breakfast.
---

w8 - Village Tap
My first bar-adventure with the Nanner was inspired by old St. Pat and a little peer pressure.  Nanner wore green and even weathered a drop or two of Guinness on her pretty little head.
---

w7 - West Lakeview Liquors
Nanner was unsure of the situation at first, but made the owner Christina promise to post the photo on the WLVL Facebook page.  You can check.
---

w2 - 2112 AFC Championship Party
Photo obviously taken before the game ended.  Nanner was definitely not sleeping after Lee Evans dropped that pass.

Lots has changed in the past year.  The Nanner is too big to pony up to the bar in the baby carrier anymore, but we're all looking forward to another summer in the backyard.
